Illinois’ diverse infrastructure of roads, bridges, railways and waterways play a vital role in the transportation of products throughout the state. But our waterways are deteriorating at an alarming rate. In fact, Illinois received a D- grade for its inland waterway infrastructure from The American Society of Civil Engineers.
With more than $23 billion in commodities shipped annually on Illinois rivers, and more than a 100,000 businesses and 1.7 million jobs connected to the waterways, failure is not an option for us. We need your help.
The Illinois Soybean Association (ISA) represents more than 43,000 soybean farmers in Illinois through the state soybean checkoff and membership efforts. The checkoff funds market development, soybean production and profitability research, promotion, issues management and analysis, communications and education. Membership and advocacy efforts support Illinois soybean farmer interests in local areas, Springfield and Washington, D.C. ISA programs are designed to ensure Illinois soy is the highest quality, most dependable, sustainable and competitive in the marketplace. For more information, visit the website www.ilsoy.org.
Here at the Illinois Soybean Association, we rely on our state’s inland waterway system to help feed families, build communities and help businesses thrive to ensure we’re building a bright future for our state and everyone living in it.
